The National

Today is the last day of an amazing year, 2015. The post today should not be filled by some random band but a special one for me. The National is, maybe, one of my favorite bands, and I think they deserve to close the blog this year.

It is quite difficult to choose a song of them, as all of them (personally) are perfect. However, "Bloodbuzz Ohio" has a special meaning for me, and you can listen to it below.

Today I post a group that my father really likes. Kings of Convenience is a duo from Sweden.

Long time ago I discovered Bronze Radio Return, and now they are starting being famous in our land.

"Further On" is, maybe, my favorite song of them, but it is difficult as a lot of them are great, with shining sounds. On my Spotify Playlist I will put more songs of this band.

Two days ago, a good friend had the privilege of having an interview with this amazing band called "Kids of Adelaide", from Stuttgart.

The Tallest Man On Earth

The Tallest Man On Earth, is, of course, not the tallest man on earth. However, personally, is the biggest man on the music earth.

This year he published his new album called "Dark Bird Is Home", with amazing songs like Sagres or Dark Bird Is Home, with the same title as the album and the song I post today. Enjoy the music that the Swedish man gives us!

What a surprise when I discovered that the band Smile were from Vizcaya, Spain.

The Seihos

It is time to post a band from the city where I am from, Barcelona. 
The Seihos is a band formed in Barcelona and, for those who like Vampire Weekend, I am sure this band is for you. This year they published their third album "Farewell", with the same vibes as the first one.

We cannot find so much on Youtube, but only their "single" that came first to the people because of a TV ad. However, I invite you to listen to his albums on Spotify or other platforms, and enjoy!

Real Estate is a group I discovered the first time I went to a music festival. I immediately knew I would love the band.

Let's continue with a folk band called "Iron & Wine", that is the artistic name for Sam Beam, an American singer-songwritter.

Two years ago, a really good friend showed me Manchester Orchestra, an American band formed in 2004.

I take the announcement of BBK Live to show you all M83, a wonderful group that most of you may know for songs like "Midnight city". However, the group is way better than this popular song.

Worklife, such a mystery. We can only listen to one song on their Spotify, and they only have two on SoundCloud. So, nothing much to say about the american band.

Beirut

Today's artist is Beirut. The band was, in the beginning, a musical solo project led by the actual leader, Zach Condon which became into a band. They have already released 5 albums, with a new one published two months ago. That is why I want to show you all one piece of this new album, called "No No No".

We can observe that the band follows the same style and way of music as it has done in all the albums, keeping their particular sounds on the songs.

The song is called "Gibraltar", and we can find it, as I said, in the new album of the band.

The Vietnams is another group I want to show you all. The band is from California with only one album released. In this case, the quality wins.

As you can notice in the song I post, called "Oh Miss Deceiver", they have a folk background, which is what I like the most about them.

Beach House

Some of you may know Beach House, as they have a long musical trajectory, with six albums released since 2006. The band is formed by Victoria and Alex, a duo born in Baltimore, United States.

Beach House, is in other words, and personally, the kings of dream pop. This year they have released two albums, "Depression Cherry" and "Thank Your Lucky Stars". So, I decided to post a song of one of the new albums, in this case the second one and the newest, published one month ago.

The song is called "Majorette".

I do not even know how I discovered Parks, an amazing Boston band with only 1500 followers on Facebook and with sounds that make them much bigger.

The second day of this blog I posted Gregory Alan Isakov, who I discovered at the same time as San Fermin, the band I post today. The band was formed by some students from Yale University and they decided to start this project.

Ezra Vine

A few days ago, I discovered Ezra Vine, a british singer who has not released any album yet, but only an EP. So, we could say he is just in the beginning of his professional career as a singer.

"Celeste" is one of the four songs we can find in this EP, which has the same name as the song.

Kakkmaddafakka

Kakkmaddafakka is one of those artists that once you listen to them, you know certainly that they will come far. The band, from Norway, has released two albums, and they are about to release a new one as six days ago, they published a new song called "Galapagos", which will be included in it.

It is difficult to choose one song of them, as many of them are worthy of being in this post, but I decided to show you "Your Girl".

Mighty Oaks

It is time to introduce you Mighty Oaks, an alternative rock trio based in Berlin. The band, which started in 2010, is the fusion of different nationalities, as Italian, American and British.

Traveling make you discover a lot of bands and singers that you would never think you would listen to. This is the case of Dotan, a singer from the Netherlands.

One year ago, I had the privilege of going to a SOAK concert in front of 20 people, when she was only 18 years old. I saw then that she would go really far.

Bridie Monds-Watson, the Irish girl we can find behind this artistic name, released her first album called "Before We Forgot How To Dream" this year.

"Sea Creatures", the song you can find below, is one of the 14 songs you can listen to in her album, as "Blud", "B a noBody" or "Reckless Behaviour".

Baio

Chris Baio started his professional career being member of Vampire Weekend. Two months ago he decided to release his own album, called "The Names".

Glen Hansard

Last year I discovered Glen Hansard, an Irish singer born in Dublin.
In the 80s, he was a member of the band The Frames, but three years ago he decided to release his own album and start his own project.

In this album, which is the first one of him, and called "Rhythm and Repose", we can find great songs as the one below: "High Hope".

Today's artist is Gregory Alan Isakov.
He is a singer born in South Africa but living in United States. He has been influenced by huge artists like Leonard Cohen or Bruce Springsteen.

A new beginning

The time has come, and somewhat told me that it is necessary to open a blog.

My name is Guillem Castanyer, I am from Barcelona and I decided to create a blog, in which I can show people my pure obsession for music. 

Someone might wonder the reason of this name: "chestnutting". This name is related to my surname and my dad, as it is true that I came into the world of music because of him. So, I thought that he deserves to be part of it.

As I said, this blog will be focused on music that I discover in my daily life, that some of you may know, but music is life. So, I will try to post new groups and new songs that may appear in my life, and I will be proud to let you discover them.
